Cape Cod

This was the 4th annual Bushnell/Kapp Cape Cod trip (I'm counting our first year to Martha's Vineyard). We have moved each year but seem to be settling into the Orleans/Eastham area.  Our favorite beach is becoming Coast Guard which is a part of the National Seashore.  It is ocean side with lots of waves at high tide so the boogie boards got more use this year.  There are also lots of sand bars so it's a great beach at low tide too.
We spent most of our days at the beach.  One day we played mini golf and saved our beach time for the evening.  The forecast on the last day was questionable.  But we had had very good luck with a questionable forecast the day before so we decided to try the beach.  We unpacked just as the rain started.  We waited a bit and packed it in.  The kids didn't seem to mind a bit.  They had a great time playing together at the house for the rest of the day.
Here are some ocean shots:

Katy enjoyed going out in the water with Greg.

But she was often found dancing on the shore

Evan had fun playing with girls, with an adult or all by himself.

We went to a new bay side beach, First Encounter Beach.
And in spite of many strikes against it (a very windy day, a buggy sunset, and sitting in the rain), it's still a keeper, at least in my book!
We spent a windy day there.  When we arrived we were all cold.  The wind never quit but the sun came out, the kids found a hole to escape the wind, and walks on the beach kept everyone a little warmer.

We also spent an evening at First Encounter.  We packed our dinner and stayed through sunset.  It was low tide and fun to be able to enjoy the expansive beach.

There was lots of fun in the sand.  This is the sand at First Encounter.  The deeper sand was more clay like and made for the interesting two tones as the kids played.

Standing (or jumping at the waters) edge provided lots of entertainment for all the kids

There were lots of beach games

He shoots.  Why is his tongue sticking out?

One night, was had s'mores over the fire followed by lots of bubble play.
These are more pictures of our evening at First Encounter Beach.

Once we moved up closer to the dunes, the bugs came out.  And they were pretty bad.  But everyone humored me and held out for the setting of the sun.  And it was worth it.

Cousins!
