Pack Monadnock Hike - Aly's First Summit

Aly and Daddy went for an adventure today. We drove to Pack Monadnock to do some hiking and give Aly a chance to reach her first summit. It is a modest mountain in Peterborough, NH. About 5 minutes into the hike, Aly tripped and fell on a tree root. This was good lesson to learn early on, and then she kept her eyes on the path.

Aly quickly learned how to climb rocks and was super excited. She enjoyed spying the yellow traingle trail markers.

Enthusiastic Aly

There were a few nice lookouts early in the hike. The leaves are just starting to change. Soon after this photo, Aly got her first blister.

Aly at the top of of the fire tower at the summit. The ranger gave her a Smokey the Bear sticker.

At the end of the hike, Aly was less enthusiastic about our adventure. We ended up walking down the road instead of the hiking trail, and I had to carry Aly for a good portion of the mile back to the parking lot.

Worn out Aly

That looked like a great day. I think she's ready for the Mt. Washington trip...not till she's bigger though.
